Success By 6 is the nation’s largest network of early childhood coalitions focused on improving school readiness through community change. Right here in Washtenaw County our Success By 6 coalition is galvanizing business, government leaders and non-profits around early learning, increasing access to services, improving systems and advocating for public policies to improve young children's lives.
Washtenaw Success By 6 is creating a coordinated system of community resources and support that can serve all Washtenaw County families and children as they grow through the first six years of life, and enter school ready to succeed, regardless of income, geographic community, language or culture. This work includes fostering collaboration and coordination of services; promoting advocacy and awareness of the needs of young children; and working with partner agencies to provide key services for families.

- Referrals to local parenting groups, playgroups and parenting programs
- Referrals to other parenting related services
- Training for childcare providers
- Support for childcare professionals seeking to increase their credentials
- Help with publicly funded health insurance enrollment problems
- Referrals to Early On and support for children with developmental concerns
- Coordination of the Washtenaw Birth to 6 Interagency Coordinating Council for agencies serving young children and their families
- Building of public awareness of the needs of young children
- Creation of a community resource directory, designed to help parents find the services they need
- Support for First Steps Programs in all ten school districts, designed to support parents in their most important role as parents
- Coordination of the Head Start – Great Start School Readiness Single Enrollment Process
